Impressive Debut by Epaulette's International Man at York

Mark Smith - Sunday June 18

Darley Stud's First-season sire Epaulette had an impressive winner at York on Saturday with the Richard Fahey-trained International Man striking at his career debut.

Jack Garritty has the two-year-old colt travelling sweetly in the run only asking for an effort inside the 200 metres. He went on to win comfortably by one and a half lengths from Arbalet (Dark Angel) with Astraea (Cityscape) a head back in third.

Bred by Bearstone Stud, International Man was a 72,000gns purchase by his trainer from Book Two of the 2016 Tattersalls Yearling Sale.

He is the fourth winner from as many foals out of the stakes-placed Lujain mare Right Answer (Lujain) from the family of the former shuttler Mind Games.

Epaulette has also sired the French winner Fas le Fios and debutant Ayr scorer Chookie Dunedin in the first few months of the northern hemisphere season.

Winner of the Group I Golden Rose Stakes, Epaulette (Commands) has his first southern hemisphere runners in the new season.

He is standing this coming season at Darley Stud at a fee of $22,000.
