Redoute's Choice filly Primavera can head to stud a winner after casting off maiden
status at Newcastle on Thursday for the China Horse Club.
A three-quarter sister to Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes winner Invader, the
Hawkes Racing trained Primavera improved at her third run back from a spell to
win the 1350 metre maiden by three-quarters of a length as favourite.
It was her first win in six starts and while she's clearly no world beater on
the track, Primavera will no doubt make her mark at stud.
Originally a $520,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Arrowfield Stud draft for
John Warren / China Horse Club / Dean Hawthorne, Primavera was re-offered at
the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was bought by Bruce
Perry Bloodstock for $550,000 and is now in the sole ownership of China Horse
Club.
Primavera is the fourth winner for stakes-winning Encosta de Lago mare Flame of
Sydney, who is the dam of this season's juvenile Group I winner Invader (also
part-owned by China Horse Club) and also the Group I placed HK stakes-winner
Not Listenin'tome.
Flame of Sydney was bought by Yu Long Investments for $605,000 at the 2015
Inglis Broodmare Sale and has a weanling colt by Snitzel and was covered last year
by Medaglia D'Oro (USA).
