Shadwell Debut winner from Aussie Bred Champion

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 23

The Shadwell operation were huge buyers at Australian yearling sales for many years and one of their purchases by champion sire Redoute’s Choice went on to be the Champion South African 2YO of 2013/2014 and she produced a debut winner for them overnight in the UK.

Majmu was a $300,000 Inglis Easter investment for Shadwell.

Redoute’s Choice filly Majmu was snapped up by Shadwell for $300,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft and proved an immediate success on the track in South Africa winning six races from 1000 to 1600m with highlight wins in the Group I Kenilworth Cape Fillies Guineas and Group I Turffontein Empress Club Stakes.

Sent to stud in Europe by Shadwell, her first foal Al Ulaa, a colt by Muhaarar has started twice and her second is three year-old Dubawi gelding Mujtaba, who won at Chesptow over a mile by four and a quarter lengths on debut for the William Haggas stable.

He did all that could be asked and will no doubt progress further.

Majmu has an unraced two year-old Frankel colt to follow called Fahmaan and a yearling filly by Kingman.

Majmu was bred and sold by Arrowfield and is from Chilean Group I winner Spontaneous (Chi), who died prematurely after producing just three foals with Majmu sadly the only filly.
