Flying Artie's Democracy Manifest Opens Winning Account

Mark Smith - Sunday September 12

With Flying Artie’s son Giannis winning the Listed Dulcify Stakes and his Blue Diamond Stakes winning son Artorius edged out in the Listed Exford Plate, the win of Democracy Manifest at Dubbo on Sunday may be little more than a bleep on the radar.

Still, it does give us an excuse to replay one of the most extraordinary arrests of all time.

Democracy Manifest

Ridden by Anthony Cavallo for trainer Kody Nestor, Democracy Manifest broke his maiden at the third time of asking.

The son of Flying Artie came from second last on the turn to overpower the Headwater gelding Akaka Falls by three lengths with the Press Statement filly Brief Statement a short-head back in third.

Democracy Manifest was a $70,000 purchase by Allam Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock from the Network Bloodstock draft at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale.

Bred by Adrian Bott and Newgate Stallions, Democracy Manifest had been passed-in short of his $25,000 reserve at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

He is the third winner for the Melbourne winning Benicio mare Slippery Satin, a half-sister to Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes winner Great Shot (Magnus) and multiple Listed winner Gawne (Flying Spur).

Democracy Manifest is the seventh winner of the season for Flying Artie.

The Newgate Farm resident is a sire on fire and currently heads the second season sires table.
