Fourth Stakes-Winner for Justify

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 27

With his first Australian bred two year-olds to race here this season, Triple Crown hero Justify (USA) continues to impress in the Northern Hemisphere posting a new stakes-winner overnight when Aspen Grove charged to victory in the Group III Newtownanner Stud Irish Stakes at the Curragh.

The longest priced runner in the field after two previous unplaced runs, she relished the step out to a mile to power home and win as she pleased.

Trained by Fozzy Stack, Aspen Grove is a homebred for Craig Bernick’s Glen Hill Farm and won by a length and a quarter. She holds an entry for the Group I Moyglare Stud Stakes next month.

Aspen Grove becomes the fourth stakes-winner for Justify and is the first winner for Group III placed More than Ready mare Data Dependent, a half-sister to Group I winner Skitter Scatter and stakes-winner Victory Dance.

Her pedigree will be of interest to Australian breeders with her first three dams by More Than Ready, Street Cry and Danehill.

Justify

Justify is not in Australia this spring, but his first crop of local two year-olds sold well earlier this year and are making good progress in the best stables in the country.
