Te Akau Shark Brother Two for Two

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 8

You don’t see a lot of yearlings by Galileo stallion Rip Van Winkle (IRE) offered at Inglis Easter, but the full brother to his best horse Te Akau Shark was afforded a slot in 2021 and he’s now come out and won two from two.

A $200,000 purchase for McKeever Bloodstock from the draft of Woburn Farm, Coppleson runs in the OTI Racing colours and looks to have plenty of talent.

Trained by Chris Waller, Coppleson won on debut at Newcastle over 1500m last month and repeated the effort to win again at Hawkesbury over 1600m surging home from last under Brenton Avdulla to win by three-quarters of a length running away.

Coppleson is the seventh winner from Group II winner Bak Da Chief and is a full brother to super talented Te Akau Shark, a two time Group I winner that also placed in a Cox Plate and an Epsom Handicap.

Coppleson was a $200,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

Coppleson could well be at a the beginning of a very long and successful career!
