Magic Millions 2YO Classic Next for Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 31

A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, I Am Invincible filly Infatuation will be heading to the Gold Coast with a win on her resume after scoring in good style at Randwick on New Year’s Eve.

Trained by Bjorn Baker, Infatuation was the most experienced runner having finished a close second in the $1million ATC Golden Gift to Barber at her second start before finishing a luckless fifth in the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic to Sovereign Fund on December 14.

Stepping out to 1200m for the first time, Infatuation settled nicely just off the speed for Rachel King and was tenacious to the line in hunting down The Little Pumper to win by the best part of a length.

With a win and a second from four starts, Infatuation has won nearly $300,000 in prizemoney so is assured of a start in the $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast in two weeks time.

“I thought she was vulnerable today, she didn’t parade that well and I think she’s got some improvement to come when you start to talk Magic Millions and she’s going in now with a good run under her belt,” said Bjorn Baker, who was celebrating his 100th NSW winner of the season with the talented filly.

Infatuation as a yearling.

Infatuation was bought by MyRacehorse/Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock Pty Ltd so has a big group of owners involved with the micro shares sold by My Racehorse in whose colours she runs.

Her breeder Gall Bloodstock is also in the ownership and if she can achieve some Black Type going forward will become a valuable broodmare for the future.

Infatuation is a half-sister to another smart juvenile in Gotta Kiss, who was second in a Group I BRC JJ Atkins. She is the second winner from stakes-placed Strada mare Sweet Kiss, who has been married to I Am Invincible in recent years, but had a change of pace last spring and was covered by his champion son Home Affairs.

Infatuation is the fifth two year-old winner this season for reigning champion sire I Am Invincible, who has an outstanding draft of 53 for Magic Millions.
