Trained by John Size, Beauty Eternal started a hot favourite in the recent Hong Kong Derby, but came up marginally short when beaten half a length into third place after posting three successive wins.

Sent out favourite for the 1400m Class 2 event on Sunday, Beauty Eternal charged to the line late for Zac Purton to snatch a last stride win taking his overall record to five wins ad two placings from seven starts.

A $90,000 Inglis Classic Highway Session purchase for from the Fernrigg Farm draft, Beauty Eternal is a half-brother to Group III placed Love Sensation and is the best of three winners from Ithacan Queen.

A placed daughter of Savabeel, Ithacan Queen comes from a deep European Black Type family featuring Group I winners such as Crowded House, Brando, Ticker Tape and Reckless Abandon.

Beauty Eternal is one of 14 winners in Hong Kong from 21 runners for Starspangledbanner and they are headed by Group I winner California Spangle, who was a gallant third to the champion Golden Sixty in the Group I Champion’s Mile on Sunday.

Starspangledbanner is back at Coolmore Australia this spring.

Starspangledbanner stands at a fee of $33,000 inc. GST.
