Prince Of Boom Dominates in Healy Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday June 24

The Group III Eureka Stud WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm is a story easily told. To the delight of the sponsors, Prince Of Boom went straight to the front and stayed there.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Robert Heathcote, the 4yo son of Spirit Of Boom was untroubled to defeat his stablemate, The Big Goodbye

(Host) by two-and-a-quarter lengths, with Quantico (I Am Invincible) a half-length back in third.

With his fifth stakes success, Prince Of Boom advances his record to eight wins and a third from 17 starts with earnings of $1,117,500.

Stable representative Leah Kilner said the decision to bypass the Stradbroke had paid dividends.

“The preparation has been enormous for this horse,”  Kilner said.

uo;We didn’t go the to Stradbroke for the right reasons, and on Tim’s advice, we came to this race.”

Tim Clark said Prince Of Boom is uncomplicated.

“He’s got a good cruising speed, this horse. He breaks their hearts a bit during the middle stages,” Clark said.

“He was starting to feel the pinch late with the big weight and probably coming towards the end of a pretty hard prep.

“He was really brave and did a great job. He’s a very talented horse.”

Prince Of Boom a $20,000 March Magic Millions yearling

A $20,000 investment for Adrenaline Thoroughbreds from the Eureka Thoroughbreds draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Prince Of Boom is a three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Simply Fly (Spirit Of Boom).

The son of Spirit Of Boom is the best of two winners from four to race for the winning Red Dazzler mare Dazzling Display, a half-sister to the Group II Queensland Guineas winner Express Air (Piccolo).

Michael Nolan purchased a Defcon half-sister to Prince Of Boom for $52,500 from the Eureka Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

After missing to Spirit Of Boom in 2021, Dazzling Display revisited the Eureka Stud stallion last spring.

Spirit Of Boom stands the 2023 season at Eureka Stud for $38,500.
