Racenet lays for Saturday

Breednet - Friday October 20

It’s Caulfield Cup day and the Racenet analysts have put their heads together to give punters another tool to help them turn a profit with the Racenet lays of the day.

Punters will need plenty of help at the weekend.

Below are the favoured runners that the Racenet men have discounted as winning chances on the weekend.

ZENALICIOUS

$4.60

She’s got the form and looks ready to win however, she has 60kg and will likely go back from the barrier on a soft track. She’ll find this easier than her last start but rises 5kg for the drop in grade. This shapes as a race that will be run strongly and with depth to the form she looks a favourite worth opposing - especially if the track deteriorates and they start scouting wide.

SNITTY KITTY

$3.75

Shouldn’t be hard to find a lay at Caulfield but harder than it looks. Snitty Kitty won last start here against mares and now steps up to open Group II level. Looks a high-pressure race with plenty of speed early and there are some proven closers in the race so she could be left vulnerable late - happy to take this favourite on.

Doomben

TYCOON ACE

$3.40

Has been well backed and winner of three of his last four starts in easier grade. Likes to lead but might not find it easy in this tougher grade and with Bullpit in the race. Unplaced his only start on a heavy track and he gets that here. We think there are better favourites to be backing at the meeting.

JIM’S JOURNEY

$3.10

Small fields make this a tricky day. Risking Jim’s Journey which is racing well but hasn’t won in nine starts and he’s topweight here. The class horse in it but Temps Voleur looks the only speed in this and it could end up a tactical contest. He’s a definite winning chance but prepared to take him on the way this race will be run.

NECKLET

$1.95

Finished runner-up at Belmont at her only start but she’s an odds-on favourite in what looks a handy set-weights race for three-year-olds. She could, of course, turn out to be a smart filly but we would rather not be piling in at odds-on at this level and this stage of her career.
