Geese That Lay Golden Eggs – What’s in the Future?

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 14

The 2024 Magic Millions Yearling Sale was highlighted by 23 yearlings that sold for $1million or more which was up by three on last year when 20 were in the millionaires club.

Avantage set an online world record when sold for $4.1million on Gavelhouse to Tom Magnier, this year's sale-topper might not be her last!

There was only one mare on last year’s list that appeared again this year and that was In Times of War, who had a Zoustar colt last year make $1million. He was named Espionage and came out and won the Group III ATC Breeders Plate on debut so his half-sister by Snitzel was very much in demand fetching $1.4million.

Australian bred mares dominated the list with the only mares born outside of Australia to feature being Euroboss (USA), Cercle D’Or (IRE) and Kiwi bred Palace Talk.

Below we’ve tabled all the million dollar yearlings with the foal produced last year by their dam and subsequent covering.
