Impressive Trial Win for Sunlight Sister

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 23
A highlight at the Cranbourne trials on Monday morning was the first appearance of the full sister to $2million earner Sunlight, who will chase Group I glory at Moonee Valley on Friday night when lining up in the MVRC Manikato Stakes.

Trained by Tony McEvoy as is Sunlight, Sisstar showed promise with a narrow win at her first public appearance and is likely to race over the Flemington carnival.

Sisstar as a yearlingSisstar stepped out in the sixth trial of Monday's Cranbourne session where she defeated her stablemate Xilong (Deep Field x Pane in the Glass) in a time of 47.97 seconds for 800m on a track rated soft (6).

The McEvoy-trained duo finished five lengths ahead of their two rivals.

"I'll run her down the straight on Melbourne Cup day down the straight in the fillies' race," McEvoy told Racenet.

"She's natural and wants to run so I like her.

"She's only a little girl, a bit smaller than Sunlight but has ability."

Sisstar was bought for $600,000 by McEvoy Mitchell Racing/David Redvers Bstockat from the Widden Stud draft at the Magic Millions and runs for many of the same owners involved in Sunlight.

Her dam Solar Charged has a yearling colt by Sebring and is due to foal to Sunlight's sire Zoustar again this year.
