See You Later, Alligator!

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 3
More Than Ready (USA) has sired a string of hot two year-old winners this season and added another to the tally on Friday night when the Gai Waterhouse trained filly Later Gator bolted in on debut at Canterbury.

Later Gator (pictured as a yearling))made light of the heavy conditions, ploughing through the mud to win the 1100 metre maiden by four lengths.

Running in the John Singleton colours, Later Gator was a $180,000 purchase for Strawberry Hill Stud from the Westbury Stud draft at the 2011 NZB Premier Yearling Sale.

Bred by Gerry Harvey and offered for sale in New Zealand, as was Blue Diamond Preview winner The Travelling Man, Later Gator is the third winner for Flying Spur mare Now the World, a half-sister to Group III winner World Peace from Group II winner Light Up The World.

This is the Christmas Spirit branch of the Denise's Joy family that features Group I winners Thorn Park and Bentley Biscuit, so we shouldn't be surprised that Later Gator can run!
