A
thoroughbred from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Beau Zam has been
making a name for himself on the international three day eventing circuit, with
a shot at Olympic stardom in London later this year looming large on his
horizon.
A 12 year-old gelding by Muhayaa (USA) from the unraced Zamazaan (Fr) mare
Zambia (a three-quarter sister-in-blood to beau Zam), Hurtle failed to impress on
the track and after nine winless runs in country New South Wales was banished
from racing to pursue a career as a performance horse.
His transformation from unwanted nag to an Olympic contender was told in the
Herald Sun on Saturday and for all horse lovers it's a story well worth reading.
