South Australian Breeders Honoured

The South Australian Thoroughbred Breeders Annual Awards Dinner was held last Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Adelaide.

Harry Perks and his partners of Toorak Park Stud, provided the Goldners Horse Transport Horse of the Year, with the Caulfield Cup winner SOUTHERN SPEED, honoured for her achievements.

The winning combination also collected awards as Breeders of the Leading 2 year Old, SECRET STATUS, Breeder of Leading 3 year Old SOUTHERN SPEED(pictured Taron Clarke Photography), Horse of the Year Finalists SOUTHERN SPEED and PERFECT PUNCH and were the winners of the SABOIS Breeders Premiership.

Kambula Stud's BLEVIC received the Magic Millions Award as the Leading South Australian Sire, the S.A. Jockey Club Award to the Leading 2 year Old Sire went to Cornerstone Stud's BARELY A MOMENT.

Chris Watson from Mill Park Stud had a busy night collecting their awards – Claude Haigh Memorial Broodmare of the year, PUSHING DAISIES, Yalumba Award for Breeder of Group 1 winner, CAPTAIN SONADOR , Newmarket Insurance Brokers Leading South Australian Breeder s Category 1 – Stakes Performers and Breeders of Horse of Year finalist CATAPULTED.

The prestigious Morphettville Equine MATRICE AWARD was presented in a very emotional ceremony to popular Bloodstock Agent ADRIAN HANCOCK. Adrian received a standing ovation as he went up to collect his award and there were quite a few – including Adrian- who were wiping a few tears away.

The SABOIS awards were also presented during the night . Breeders premiership won by TOORAK PARK STUD, Owners Premiership, LORRAINE MUELLER, Trainers Premiership LEON MACDONALD & ANDREW GLUYAS, Jockeys Premiership, MATTHEW NIELSON, Two Year Old Premiership MY CHOISIR, Three Year Old Premiership, ADDICTION TO ROCK, Sires Premiership, AKHADAN and a three way tie in the SABOIS PLUS Premiership between BRAD STAR, CURRENCY CUGAT and WILLEGO.
