Hot Four to Start Sale on a High

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 10

It's nice to start a yearling sale on a high note.

Touchstone Farm will hope to start the Perth MM Sale on a positive note with four quality lots catalogued for the first day.

Touchstone's Glenn Martin is eagerly awaiting day one as like so many other Studs, sale time is the culmination of many months hard work.

"Sale time is where we get to showcase our product and it is really the shop window to our Farm. In a short time we have developed a strong reputation, but sale day is where it really counts," he said.

"We feel that we have a beautifully prepared draft of yearlings and across a wide range of local trainers and potential buyers we have received a very favourable response.

"Buyers will be able to look at a number of quality youngsters from our resident sires Flying Pegasus and Vital Equine with some other prominent sires also featuring in our draft."

Lot 97 is a filly from stakes-winner Genuine Girl by Vital Equine (IRE). The filly is a half-sister to SW Destino and metro winners  Girl in a Storm and Classic Miss. From a running family with great residual value this impressive filly has created a lot of interest. A Girl In a Storm colt sold recently at the Gold Coast this year for 100K.

Lot 139 is a colt from Polish Odyssey (IRE) by Flying Pegasus. Dam is a winner over a mile at the Curragh and is a half sister to Enroller, a Group III winner and a place getter at Royal Ascot. From the family of Walk On Mix it is a page littered with black type.

Lot 146 is a colt from Rayina (IRE) by Vital Equine (IRE). Rayina was purchased by Touchstone Farm from the Aga Khan for $ 200,000 and is half sister to Rayeni a Champion 3 year old sprinter in Ireland being a Group III winner and second in the Group I Irish Two Thousand Guineas.

Lot 150 is a colt from Recamier (IRE) by Vital Equine (IRE) and comes from a very strong family. He is the first foal out of a placed Singspiel mare, whose grand-dam is the great champion All Along, the first filly to win the Eclipse Horse Of the Year and won Horse of The Year honours in both France and the USA.
