Scoring
a stylish debut win at Pakenham on Friday was two year-old Stratum filly Proper
Madam.
The Jason Warren trained filly jumped only fairly and settled last in the field
of five before mustering speed and moving into contention three wide on the
turn.
When given her head she powered clear to win the 1000 metre maiden by a length
and a half.
Proper Madam (pictured as a yearling) was a modest $35,000 purchase for her trainer from the Widden Stud
draft at the 2011 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and is the first Australian foal
of American stakes-winner Ultravase (USA), who is the dam of four winners in
the US.
Widden Stud will present 18 youngsters at the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling
Sale, four of them by leading young sire Stratum.
