An
$85,000 purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the Widden draft at the
2011 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, exciting Charge Forwards filly Cavalry Rose
made it two wins in as many starts when she scored a determined win at Rosehill
on Saturday.
The Gerald Ryan trained filly (pictured www.stevehart.com.au) scored a debut win in the $250,000 Inglis Classic
last month and showed the benefit of race experience to follow up with a very
professional performance.
She jumped well for Glyn Schofield and was up on the pace throughout before
giving plenty in the run home to hold out the fast finishing Jade Marauder and
win the 1200 metre dash by the best part of a length.
"She didn't run around as badly today as she did first-up," winning jockey
Glyn Schofield said.
"She hit the front at the 300 metres and sort of accelerated away from the
leader, but wasn't really sure of herself with nothing to chase.
"She was still a bit at sea, but she held them off with an amount of ease
to suggest there is still a bit of improvement."
Cavalry Rose (pictured as a yearling) has won over $200,000 in prizemoney and may head towards the
Golden Slipper depending on how she pulls up.
Bred by Grant Briscoe, Cavalry Rose is the first winner for the winning Danske
mare Alberton Rose (NZ), a half-sister to Group II winner Te Akau Rose from the
family of stakes-winners Straussbridge, Sir Alberton and Alberton Star, the dam
of Group III winner Lady Alberton and up and coming mare Alberton Park.
A typical neat, compact bay as are so many of the better performers by Charge
Forward, she is also bred on a very successful cross with four of his six
stakes-winners from Danzig line mares.
Widden Stud are now heading to Melbourne with a select draft of 18 youngsters
for the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale which starts on February 27.
