And
we might not have to wait long to see 19 and 20.
Superstar sprinter Black Caviar (pictured Taron Clarke Photography) triumphed in her first attempt over 1400 metres
at Caulfield on Saturday, pleasing the massive crowd in attendance with an
electric win in the Group I MRC C.F. Orr Stakes.
The Peter Moody trained mare jumped brilliantly and parked in fourth place just
behind the leaders and when asked to slide into the race by regular partner
Luke Nolen she did so in a twinkling.
The daughter of Bel Esprit lengthened stride and reeled off a couple of
sizzling furlongs that put paid to her rivals, coasting to the line to win by more
than three legnths with Caulfield Cup winner Southern Speed a gallant second.
"If you were writing a script, that's how you would have liked it to play out,"
said Luke Nolen.
Melbourne racegoers may now be in for a real treat as Peter Moody indicated Black
Caviar may well run again next Saturday in the Group I VRC Lightning Stakes,
before backing up again seven days later in the Group I MRC Futurity at
Caulfield.
The current flagship performer from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Black
Caviar (pictured as a yearling) was plucked by her trainer for $210,000 from the Swettenham Stud draft
and has won 18 races and $4.7 million for her lucky group of owners.
Her breeder Ric Jamieson has more 'Caviar' in the pipeline at his Gilgai Farm
with a Redoute's Choice yearling filly from Black Caviar's dam Helsinge going
to the 2012 Inglis Australian Eater Yearling Sale where she will be offered byMakybe as agent as Lot 200.
Helsinge also has a colt foal by Redoute's Choice and was covered last season
by the great mare's sire Bel Esprit.
TVN's Caroline Searcy was in Victoria last week touring the studs and will show
footage from her visit to Gilgai Farm featuring Helsinge and her foal on the
Thoroughbreds program next Tuesday night at 7.30 pm.
