2010 Tasmanian Derby winner Geegees Blackflash has been unstoppable this preparation and reeled off his fifth straight win when lugging 58,5 kg to victory in the Group III Hobart Cup on Sunday.
The John Lutrell trained son of Clangalang is racing in career best form and took the 2200 metre feature by the best part of a length as a well backed favourite.
A homebred for Mr and Mrs Paul Geard, Geegees Blackflash has the overall record of 11 wins and 11 placings from 34 starts with prizemoney of $539,250.
Geegees Blackflash is one of three winners from the unraced Grand Lodge (USA) mare La Quita, a half-sister to Group I SAJC Australian Derby winner Cheviot.
La Quita nearly had a stakes double as her three year-old filly Gee Gee's La Quita finished third in the Listed Strutt Stakes.
La Quita has a yearling filly by Testa Rossa's Group III winning son Wordsmith and another filly foal by the same sire.
A dual Group I winner of the AJC Australian Derby and Epsom Handicap, Clangalang (pictured) started his career at Eliza Park in Victoria, but now stands at Riversend Stud in South Australia.
