Local
businessman Craig Thompson took the early running at the Magic Millions Perth
Yearling Sale with the purchase of a stunning Oratorio colt for $180,000.
The
second foal of the stakes winning sprinter mare Scuffs, the colt was purchased
by Thompson and will be trained by leading local horseman Trevor Andrews.
"It's Valentine's Day and I've bought him for my wife Rose," the Mt
Hallowell Stud owner said.
"At the sale two years ago Trevor picked out his best colt and it turned
out to be King Saul.
"And this colt we think is the best sprinting prospect in the sale and
hopefully he wins some big races and we can stand him at stud.
"I really admired Scuffs as a racehorse and Oratorio is doing everything
right as a sire and he's a lovely colt. He has a lot of things going for
him," Thompson added.
The
Oratorio-Scuffs colt (pictured) was presented at the sale by Gray and Jan Williamson's
Mungrup Stud.
The first session of the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale continues at the
Belmont Sales Complex.
The sale is being streamed on the Magic Millions website.
