Metro Double for Stratum

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 18
Stratum has been enjoying a hot run of winners during the summer months and posted a metropolitan winning double on Friday night with Gangster's Choice scoring at Canterbury and Stratcombe at Moonee Valley.

A $100,000 purchase for Vin Cox Bloodstock from the Twin Palms Stud draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the John O'Shea trained Gangster's Choice scored a tenacious win in the Benchmark 71 event over 1900 metres.

Gangster's Choice has the tidy overall record of four wins and three seconds from just 11 starts with prizemoney in excess of $80,000.

Gangster's Choice is the first winner for Brave Choice, a half-sister to Group I Brave Prince and stakes-winner Valourina, the dam of Group II winners Media and Timbourina.

The Mick Price trained Stratcombe improved on an unlucky last start second, scoring a powerful win under 59.5 kg in the Ratings 72 event over 955 metres.

A $200,000 purchase from the Brooklyn Lodge draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Stratcombe has won three races and placed three from seven starts earning $89,351 in prizemoney.

Stratcombe is a half-brother to brilliant Group II winning sprinter Impaler being one of five winners from Catecombe, a grand-daughter of Cotehele House (GB), the dam of successful sires Danewin and Commands.

Widden Stud based Stratum is on a winning roll with five winners in the past five days.
