Lightly raced Steps in Time confirmed her potential with a stylish three-quarter length win over Group I winner Beaded in the Group II ATC NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Classic over 1200 metres.
Steps in Time (pictured www.stevehart.com.au) was partnered by Jim Cassidy, who took full advantage of her inside draw to have the mare up in the lead throughout and with superior fitness from a soft first up win last month on her side, she proved a tough nut to crack."Very good effort," O'Shea's stable foreman Bryce Heys said. "It obviously helped to have that fitness edge over those good mares.
"That's the way to ride her and he [Jim Cassidy] pulled their pants down."
John O'Shea wasn't at Warwick Farm, instead watching over Lightning Stakes contender Foxwedge at Flemington, but Heys' indicated Steps In Time could target the Group I Coolmore Classic (1500m) to be run at Rosehill on March 24.
Steps in Time has won four of seven starts earning $289,750 in prizemoney and was retained to race by her breeders.
She is the second living foal and first stakes-winner for Group II AJC Stan Fox Stakes winner Rare Insight (NZ).
A daughter of champion sire O'Reilly, Rare Insight is a half-sister to multiple Group I winners Vision and Power and Glamour Puss, so Steps in Time is certainly bred to be a star.
Rare Insight has a yearling colt by Lonhro that will be offered by Kitchwin Hills as Lot 351 at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Rare Insight had another colt foal by Lonhro last year and was covered late in the season by Redoute's Choice.
