February 19 – The featured Lisboa Prelude in Macau on Saturday was won by talented first starter Speedy Leo, a $52,500 purchase for his trainer Patrick Lee from the Southern Cross Breeders draft at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale Session Five.
He won the 1100 metre sprint by a length in an encouraging performance for a horse making his debut.
Bred by Mrs Catherine Remond, Speedy Leo (pictured is a three-quarter brother by young Darley sire Nadeem to smart Sydney sprinter Social Rank and is the second winner for grey Snippets mare Leonina, a daughter of stakes-placed Frisky Lady from the family of Golden Slipper winner Star Watch and more recent stakes-winners such as Graceful Anna and News Alert.
Leonina had a colt by first season sire Nicconi for Mrs Remond at Riversdale Farm last year and is now in foal to Dane Shadow.
Southern Cross Breeders have a select draft of three youngsters for the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale by Testa Rossa, Tale of the Cat (USA) and Duke of Marmalade (IRE).
