Kieser Strikes in Singapore Golden Horseshoe Series

Media Release - Monday February 20

Today at Kranji for the second year in a row trainer Theo Kieser struck a prized blow in the Singapore Golden Horseshoe Series for two-year-olds with an Australian bred and sold youngster, netting another lucrative bonus thanks to Inglis.

Theo Kieser and the Gryphon Stable combined with Riverdene Stud bred galloper Kaiser (by Seidnazar) to take out the inaugural Inglis Melbourne Juvenile Stakes in Singapore last year and the Theo/Gryphon combination worked again this year.

Sunday's renewal was taken out by Griffin (by Sequalo) who led throughout to win the 1000m event over dead-heaters Jackpot (by Artie Schiller) and Zeus Thunder (by Enemy of Average).

Griffin's winning connections collected S$40,000 for this afternoon's victory, plus the additional S$25,000 bonus on offer to the winner for being Australian sired and purchased at an Australian sale conducted by either Inglis or Magic Millions.

"The owners have almost recovered their money from the win and it's great to follow on from our victory in the first two-year-old race last year with Kaiser," Theo said.

Kaiser, now three, would not be left out of today's celebrations, winning the S$75,000 Sky Shyster 2002 Handicap (Class 3) over 1100m later in the day.

"It's great to see strong supporters of the Golden Horseshoe Series like Theo Kieser succeed with yearlings purchased in Australia and targeted at these races," said Inglis Asia Representative Peter Twomey in Singapore.

"The two-year-old series was a great success last year with horses such as Mr Big, Dark Matter, Cash Luck and Kaiser all winning lucrative bonuses and it is great to see those two-year-olds further succeeding in their three-year-old season.

"Kaiser took his earnings past S$250,000 today, Mr Big has S$460,000 in the bank after defeating the older horses in January, Dark Matter won twice in Dubai recently, while Cash Luck just arrived in Dubai and is heading towards the UAE Guineas after winning over 1600m here late last month," Twomey added.

The Singapore Golden Horseshoe Series comprises seven races with S$1million on offer, culminating in the running of the Singapore Group Two Aushorse Golden Horseshoe over 1200m on Friday, May 18.

Buyers' next chance to purchase a horse eligible for the bonuses on offer in the Singapore Golden Horseshoe Series is at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale , which will be held over four days from Monday February 27 to Thursday March 1.
