Juveniles sold by Widden Stud have been racing up a storm so far this season with Magic Millions winner Driefontein and Inglis Classic winner Cavalry Rose leading the way and at Caulfield on Saturday two more Widden sold youngsters will contest the Group I $1million MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.
The Danny O'Brien trained Stratum colt Bush Aviator (pictured as a yearling) has been flying under the radar, his only start to date an impressive win in the Listed Elwick Stakes in Tasmania on February 5.
A $140,000 Magic Millions purchase, Bush Aviator has drawn gate 10 and will be ridden by Jamie Mott, who won on the colt on debut.
Connections of progressive Strada filly Formidable elected to pay a late entry fee into the Blue Diamond and were no doubt pleased with their decision after she drew barrier three with Chris Symons to ride.
A bargain purchase for well known owners Barrie and Midge Griffiths, Formidable (pictured) was snapped up for just $20,000 from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and has already won $83,200 in prizemoney from her only three starts.
An impressive winner on debut at Flemington in January, the Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra trained filly has been runner-up at her past two outings behind leading contenders Samaready and Mama's Choice.
All the team at Widden Stud wish the connections of both two year-olds the very best of luck for this Saturday.
Don't miss the Widden Stud draft next week at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale featuring 18 youngsters by proven and popular sires including our own Stratum, Sebring, Northern Meteor and War Pass (USA).
