Winning Return for No Evidence Needed

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 25
The Group III ATC Southern Cross at Rosehill on Saturday was a race filled with half-fit horses, but No Evidence Needed had class on her side and a great ride from Joao Moreira to get her home.

The John Thompson trained mare was resuming from a long spell having not been sighted since finishing fourth to Black Caviar in the Group I BTC Cup last May, but indicated she is in for a great preparation with her comfortable length and a half win in the 1200 metre sprint.

Bred by Bart Cummings and partners and consigned for sale under the Princes Farm banner at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale Part II, No Evidence Needed was bought for $130,000 by Patinack Farm and has been a great investment winning six races and placing seven times from 23 starts with prizemoney of $639,755.

A daughter of Darley shuttler Shamardal (USA)(pictured) , No Evidence Needed is one of three winners from Group II placed Generosa (NZ), a half-sister to Listed Hawkesbury Guineas winner Related.

The current yearling from Generosa, a filly by Hussonet (USA), will be offered by Princes Farm as Lot 178 at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Already a Group II winner previously, No Evidence Needed is from the first Australian crop of foals by Shamardal, who has had a chequered shuttling pattern to Australia having missed out in 2007 as a result of EI, then covered a small book of just 34 mares in 2009 as a result of injury, before missing out again last year owing to injury keeping him in the Northern Hemisphere.

Shamardal does have yearlings at the sales here this year including six that will be offered at Inglis Premier next week.
