If Sydney stakes-winner Dystopia is seen as a blue-blood from the silk department, then at the other end of the scale is Group III MRC Mannerism Stakes winner Hi Belle, who proved you don't need to spend a fortune to get hold of a good mare.

A homebred for Pakenham trainer John Gunning, progressive mare Hi Belle scored the biggest win of her career when cruising home to win at Caulfield, taking her overall record to eight wins and four seconds from 23 starts with prizemoney in excess of $350,000.
A two-time stakes-winner in the spring, Hi Belle (pictured Taron Clarke Photography) went out for a break on a high and has returned in sparkling order judging by this easy two length victory with Craig Williams in the saddle.
"I'm over the moon," said John Gunning.
"We came here confident and when I saw her at the stalls she was cool as a cucumber in this heat.
"After last preparation she started to know she was a good horse and now she's gone right on with it.
"We have several options for her now, but I'll talk to Craig (Williams). We could go to the Sunline or the Blamey and there is always Sydney."
Hi Belle is one of four stakes-winners sired by AJC Derby winner Clangalang and is from the unplaced Jugah (USA) mare Seldom Caught, who was also bred and trained by John Gunning.
From the family of Group I Queensland Derby winner Court Ruler, Seldom Caught failed to win in four starts, but has proven her worth at stud, producing four winners from six runners with Hi Belle clearly the best.
Seldom Caught has not had a foal in the past few years, but not surprisingly was covered again last spring by Clangalang, who stands at Rivers End Stud in South Australia at a fee of $4,400.
