Inglis Upbeat ahead of Premier Sale

Media Release - Sunday February 26

It was a warm day out at Inglis' Oaklands complex in Melbourne today with inspection parades in full swing. The mood was positive, especially around Yallambee Stud and Eliza Park Stud draft's who cheered home the aptly named Upbeat at Caulfield.

Upbeat ($90,000 2010 Premier, 3c Strategic-Silverbeat) had plenty of admirers at Oaklands two years ago when he was purchased out of Yallambee Stud's draft by his trainer Anthony Cummings, and with the application of blinkers he led from the front and took out today's Group Two MRC Autumn Classic.

Eliza Park Stud were also thrilled to see the son of Strategic go past the post first, as the stud will offer Upbeat's yearling half-brother by Magnus as Lot 230 at this week's Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale(pictured).

790 yearlings have been catalogued for this year's Premier Sale in Melbourne. 614 lots will be offered in Session 1 held on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by 176 lots in Session 2 on Thursday.

Tomorrow, Sunday February 26, is the Inglis Open Inspection Day featuring the official drawing of the Sunday Herald Sun / Inglis 'Win A Share in a Racehorse Competition', New Owners Forum, Owners & Trainers Discussion Panel, Callaway Golf Driving Range, Live Band and ability to get up close Living Legends such as Silent Witness, Brew and Might And Power.

Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold eligible yearlings, which make up over 50% of the catalogue, are sure to prove popular with local Victorian trainers and owners, with qualified VOBIS Gold yearlings eligible to share in an extra $20,000 bonus on about 350 races each season in Victoria in addition to the regular Super VOBIS bonuses.
