Stud's More Than Ready (USA) was the star of Saturday racing, but his barn mate
Testa Rossa got in on the action on Sunday when his progressive six year-old son
Over Quota captured the Listed $110,000 Kilmore Cup.
The Mark Webb trained gelding has been in top form this preparation reeling off
a hat-trick of metropolitan wins in December and January with Peter Mertens
guiding him to an easy victory in this Black Type feature.
Sent out favourite from barrier one, he surged clear to win the 1600 metre
contest by a length and three-quarters, his overall record now eight wins and 14
placings from 41 starts with prizemoney of $266,660.
A $28,000 purchase from the 2007 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Session II from
the draft of Carbine Vale Thoroughbreds, Over Quota is one of six winners, but
the first stakes-winner for Zabeel mare Jazz Baby (NZ), who comes from the
family of Group I winners Lotteria and ill-fated Taatletail.
Jazz Baby had a filly foal last year by Haradasun and was covered by Danzero in
his first season at Rosemont Stud in Victoria.
Over Quota is the 41st stakes-winner for Testa Rossa(pictured), who has 20
youngsters entered for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
