The
sad news last week of the passing of veteran shuttle sire Royal Academy (USA)
has put the spotlight on his remaining sons at stud including lightly raced
Strategic Maneuver, who stands at Bullarook Stud in Victoria.
The Gooree Stud bred Strategic Manuever showed tremendous ability during a
brief career of just two starts that was curtailed prematurely through injury,
but has proven popular with Victorian breeders covering 105 mares last year
according to the Australian Studbook.
"Strategic Maneuver was the fastest colt I trained since Dance Hero and
Sebring," said his trainer Gai Waterhouse.
"He possessed a wonderful cruising speed and scintillating acceleration.
"He will be well priced and affordable to the public. I look forward to
training his progeny."
Which is likely with Gooree, their manager and vet all retaining shares in the
stallion, who has done an excellent job in with his first book of mares.
"He's covered good numbers to give him a great chance to succeed and we'd love
to see him carry on the name of Royal Academy into the future," said Malcolm
Boyd of Bullarook Stud.
Strategic Manuever stands at a fee of $4,400.
