Foxwedge Sister Trials in Style

Media Release - Monday February 27

Headed for a start in the Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap next month, Foxwedge is one of the most exciting three year-old colts in the country, which is why all eyes were on the Randwick barrier trials on Monday morning where his full sister She's a Fox stepped out for Anthony Cummings.

Ridden by Hugh Bowman, She's a Fox turned in a very professional performance to settle off the pace and finish off with a rush, taking the 852 metre trial by a length in 50.5 seconds.

The time was the second fastest of five juvenile heats run at this distance with other winners including promising metropolitan winners Epaulette, Catkins and Pure Hustle, who was the only youngster to go faster than She's a Fox.

An athletic bay, She's a Fox is typical of many of the better Fastnet Rock fillies we've seen so far in being a stylish, feminine version of her famous older brother.

"It was a good trial and we're very happy with the way she ran today," said Anthony Cummings.

"I'll go home now and map out a program for her. We'll wait and see how she pulls up, but we'll be looking to find a nice race to start her off in."

She's a Fox is among first nominations for the Group II ATC Silver Slipper this Saturday.

A $600,000 purchase from the Luskin Park draft at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, She's a Fox (pictured as a yearling) is paid up for the Golden Slipper and runs for a group of owners including her co-breeder Paul Whelan.

"It's a very exciting time as a breeder to have Foxwedge competing in the big sprints and now his full sister starting to show good ability," said Whelan.

"By all accounts, Foxwedge has pulled up in great order following his fourth to Black Caviar in the Lightning Stakes and is jumping out of his skin.

"He's 21st on the order of entry for the Newmarket and another of our Luskin Park graduates Rock Classic is 18th, with weights due out tomorrow."

Luskin Park will offer a full sister to Foxwedge and She's a Fox, by Fastnet Rock from Forest Native (USA), at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 164.

The filly is one of six youngsters headed to Easter for Luskin Park.
