Dash For Cash confirmed his rating as Victoria's value sire
with a colt from Quite The Lady that made $110,000 on Day 1 at the Inglis
Premier Sale on Monday.
The Swettenham Stud sire's grey colt (pictured) from a half-sister to G3 winner Nina
Haraka was very popular and Caulfield trainers Ross and Clinton McDonald had to
fight off several prospective buyers before signalling the winning bid.
Dash For Cash stands for a $10,000 (inc gst) service fee at Swettenham and he
has sired the winners of 539 races at a 58% strike-rate since his first runners
appeared in 2006-07.
The asking price for his Day 1 leader is more than 12 times the service fee.
Swettenham's Host - Rambling
River filly was also the
focus of a number of good judges including Robbie Griffiths, Colin Little and
astute syndicator Brad Spicer. But leading agent Adrian Hancock had the
final say at $90,000.
That price reflects the great vibes about Host's first-season two
year-olds. His Premier filly received an important update last Friday
when her dam's half-sister Kulgrinda was a brilliant winner at Moonee Valley.
Fellow first-season sire Soldier's Tale opened the Swettenham consignment on
Monday with a $60,000 filly from Redoute's Choice mare Lanesborough. Her
dam is a three-quarter sister to Swettenham's Victoria Derby winner Blackfriars
and she looked a bargain buy for trainer John Blacker.
