First season sires failed to make a major impact at the 2012 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and while their progeny sold well, they did not feature in the very top echelon of the sale.
Darley's New Approach (IRE) led the averages for freshman sires with seven averaging $72,571, his best result coming with a strapping chestnut colt (pictured) from Subsequential that made $120,000 for Mill Park when secured by Leon Macdonald.
Widden Stud's Golden Slipper winner Sebring was next by average and also had the single best result of any first season sire, his top seller a colt from Pieta that made $180,000 for Eliza Park when knocked down to A Penglase.
The colt (pictured) is a half-brother to this season's talented stakes-placed filly Angel of Mercy and his dam is a half-sister to four-time Group I winner Divine Madonna.
Other good results for Sebring were a filly from Group II winner Press the Button that made $150,000 for Widden Stud as agent for Lockyer Thoroughbreds when secured by Laurel Oak Bloodstock/ Joe Pride Racing and a colt from Mrs Petrov that made $140,000 for Supreme Thoroughbreds when bought by Colin Little.
An interesting sale for Sebring was the colt from Tycoon Millie that made $120,000 when snaffled by Greg Eurell from the draft of Shadow Glen, his older half-sister Empress Millie scoring a very easy win at Canterbury on Wednesday.
