A son of champion sire Street Cry (IRE), Per Incanto had four yearlings offered for sale by Sledmere Stud as agent on behalf of Little Avondale and all were sold at an average $60,875.
Top seller for Per Incanto was a filly from Da Vinci Code that made $90,000 when secured by South Australian trainer Phillip Stokes, while a filly from Grable made $65,000 to the bid of Jason Coyle.
As a profile raising exercise ahead of Karaka next week, the move was certainly a successful one and a great many Australian buyers heading to New Zealand will now be aware of Per Incanto and keen to take a look at his stock, one in Premier and 14 for the Select Sale.
Per Incanto hangs his hat on being the Champion 3YO Sprinter of Italy in 2007.
He won at two, but really starred at three going through his classic season undefeated to win the Group III Premio Tudini, the only Black Type race at 1200m in Italy open to three-year-olds and upwards.
Purchased by Shadwell Stud at the conclusion of his three-year-old season, Per Incanto transferred to England, but an unfortunate combination of wet tracks and injury saw the colt unable to recapture his earlier form.
Bought back from injury by Shadwell, Per Incanto then had two starts in the USA at five, winning the first of those, a 7 furlong Allowance on the dirt at Aqueduct.
A magnificent type, very reminiscent of his sire Street Cry, Per Incanto was the surprise packet of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this year.
