Mista Spot?

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 6
When a horse wins with a name like Mista Spot, you do wonder if there is something in the horse to warrant the name and in this case there is.

Mista SpotThree year-old Sebring gelding Mista Spot broke through for his first win for the Anthony Freedman stable when saluting at Geelong on Thursday by half a length.

A stronger performer this preparation following a spell of 17 weeks, Mista Spot was a $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft and runs for a syndicate of Australian Bloodstock owners.

He is the second winner for Group I Auckland Cup winner Upsetthym, the Champion Stayer of NZ in 2004 and a half-sister to Group II winner Capecover.

Mista Spot as you can see in his yearling picture, features a prominent white spot on his near side flank.

The mark is not dissimilar to the white spot on Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown (USA), although his is further forward in the girth/shoulder area.

Upsettyhm has a two year-old filly be Sebring to follow called Bring Me Diamonds, but she is the last foal from the mare who died last year.
