The Bill Ryan-trained Iggimacool stamped her authority on
Wednesday's Listed Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) at Launceston, showing she has few
peers among the classic fillies in Tasmania.
Winner of the Tasmanian 1000 Guineas on January 22, the
daughter of Savoire Vivre (GB) was a luckless second in the Listed Strutt
Stakes ay her most recent start in a race devoid of speed.
Ryan was concerned the Oaks would set up similarly however
Hoop set a solid gallop.
"We were a bit concerned the race was going to be run
the same as the Strutt Stakes but there was a nice pace for her," Ryan said.
"I became real confident then (when Hoop went to the
front). I thought 'this is good'.
"Spinning Jenny had to rev up on the outside and I
thought, 'that's buggered you' so I was very confident."
"I thought she was a real good thing. I'm very
disappointed she didn't get the trifecta, the Guineas, the Strutt and the
Oaks," Ryan said. "
We were just the victim of circumstances in the Strutt.
"We knew she would outstay them. All she needed was a
little bit of pace on and a little bit of luck.
"We have got two options. We either go to the paddock
or we go to Adelaide for the Oaks over there, the 2500-metre one.
"We are going to look at everything."
The victory takes the overall record of 5 wins, 1 second and 1 third
from 10 starts for earnings of $131,900.
A sister to the stakes-placed Love The Moment and the very useful
5-time winner This Moment, Iggimacool is the sixth foal of winning Landoni mare
Hidden Moment.
A half-sister to Group III Tasmanian Derby winner Father
Floyd (Weasel Clause), Hidden Moment, is also a half-sister to Dazzling Vintage, who when mated to Savoire
Vivre (GB) produced another Tasmanian Derby winner, Methuselah.
Hidden Moment has a yearling filly by Tough Speed (USA) and was covered by the same stallion last year after missing to Lucas Cranach (GER)
Iggimacool comes from the eighth crop of royally-bred Sadler's Wells stallion Savoire Vivre (GB) who had covered just 8 mares in 2012 when he was struck down laminitis and was euthanized at David and Robyn Whishaw's Armidale Stud just two months into the season.
The brother to Triple Crown winner Oh So Sharp was third
leading first season sire behind Show a Heart and Galileo.
