Speedy
filly I Am Snippety, a daughter of Australia's leading first season sire I Am
Invincible, scorched the turf on Sunday to win the $100,000 Wellington Boot by
a big margin.
The Neil Osborne trained filly led them up in the Listed Canberra Black Opal
before finishing fourth to Lucky Raquie and confirmed that good run when
dashing right away for regular rider Winona Costin to win the 1100 metre
scamper by six and a half lengths.
I Am Snippety has had a fruitful first preparation so far, having been in work
since her debut second at Warwick Farm back in early December behind Echo Gal.
The filly has had six starts for two wins and a second, two fourths and a fifth
earning $119,920 in prizemoney.
Bred and retained to race by her trainer, I Am Snippety is the second winner
for metro winning Snippets mare Snippety Day, who is a half-sister to the dam
of this season's brilliant stakes-placed juvenile Stroak.
The current yearling from Snippety Day is a colt by I Am Invincible that was
sold at Magic Millions by Mane Lodge as agent for $160,000.
I Am Snippety is one of nine first crop winners for I Am Invincible joining
Group III winner Vinnie Eagle and stakes-winners Fuld's Bet and Bassillique,
not to mention stakes placed Tetsuko and Silent Whisper.
I Am Invincible has five entries for Inglis Easter next month.
