Second Winner for Wanted

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 21

To quote veteran race caller, Greg Miles, it was a "HUGE win" on debut by Wanted 2YO, Kalabek, in the JRA 2YO over 1000m at Caulfield on Easter Monday, missing the kick by two before producing a withering burst from the home turn to score.

WantedSent out a $1.90 favourite after blowing away her rivals by six lengths in a Cranbourne trial a fortnight ago, Kalabek looked to have little chance after dwelling in the gate and getting caught in the pack.

But Damien Oliver showed why he's No. 1 on most people's dance card by swinging the filly to the outside and urging her to the line strongly for an impressive win, easing down on the line.

It was the second winner in just over a week for Wanted, with another first starter in, Rough Justice, getting the money for the Ellerton/Zahra stable.

Young trainer, Brent Stanley, was clearly impressed with the win of Kalabek, commenting that she was right up to stakes class, adding that he "loves the breed".

"I've got another Wanted at home (Crinklecut) who has been working the house down and should have his first start in a couple of weeks."

Kalabek is out of the Zeditave mare, Star's Delight, and was sold by Eliza Park International at last year's Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for $110,000.
