Fourth Winner for Fastnet Rock
Breednet - Sunday, 15 February 2009
Fastnet Rock posted his fourth Australian winner when the Anthony Cummings trained filly Pearl of the Sea saluted on debut at Newcastle on Saturday.
Pearl of the Sea finished full of running to take the 900 metre scamper by the best part of a length providing a great result for her breeder Ross Daisley, who retained the filly after withdrawing her from the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Pearl of the Sea is the second foal of Jewel of the Nile, a half-sister by Desert Prince (IRE) to Group One VRC Sires Produce Stakes winner Spectatorial and stakes-placed Kennett.
Coolmore based Fastnet Rock (pictured) also added two more stakes horses on the weekend to his growing tally in Wanted and Fast Talker.
The John O’Shea trained colt Wanted resumed from a break with an unlucky third in the Listed AJC Canonbury Stakes at Randwick on Saturday after travelling wide in the run.
At Cheltenham in Adelaide, the Lee Freedman trained filly Fast Talker also snared Black Type when finishing a close third in the Listed SAJC Blue Sky Queen Adelaide Stakes.
