Millionaire Status for All Silent
Tara Madgwick - Saturday, 21 March 2009

Progressive Belong to Me (USA) five year-old All Silent indicated he would be in for a big autumn carnival when he motored home to win the Group Two STC Canterbury Stakes over 1300 metres at Rosehill on Saturday from top class mare Forensics.

The Grahame Begg trained gelding was a runaway winner of the Group One VRC Emirates Stakes last spring at Flemington and looks to have returned from his summer break in even better form.

A close up fifth when resuming in the Group Three AJC Liverpool City Cup, All Silent (pictured www.stevehart.com.au )stripped fitter for his first crack at weight-for-age company and emerged with flying colours, settling just worse than midfield and charging home with a well-timed run for champion jockey Damien Oliver.

“When he let down, he really gave it to them,” said Grahame Begg.

“Going to weight-for-age for the first time, it’s all up for him. He’ll go on from today and go on to the George Ryder and then the Doncaster, it’s very exciting.”

A half-brother to champion racemare Private Steer, who won the Group One AJC Doncaster Handicap in 2004, All Silent has now won six races from 13 starts and became a millionaire on Saturday with total earnings now up to $1,054,825.

Secured privately by Neville Begg and partners after he failed to acclimatize in Hong Kong, All Silent was originally passed in shy of his $300,000 reserve when offered by Widden Stud at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

All Silent is a son of former Widden Stud based shuttle sire Belong to Me (USA) and is the fifth foal of the Semipalatinsk (USA) mare Lisheenowen, who was purchased by Reavill Farm for $500,000 from the Inglis Broodmare Sale in 2007.

Her current yearling colt (pictured left) by Encosta de Lago will be offered by Reavill Farm as Lot 74 at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

All Silent’s half-sister Private Steer is also represented at Easter with her first living foal, a filly by Starcraft to be offered by Coolmore Stud as Lot 166.

Bred by Angelo Vasili, All Silent was foaled and raised at Widden Stud, so is yet another prominent stakes-winner to emerge from the historic Thompson family run farm, which has enjoyed incredible success this season with nine horses consigned for sale as yearlings by Widden winning 17 stakes races.
