At Peace With the World

A Group One winner of close to $2million in prizemoney, top class racemare Aqua D’Amore seemed at one time better known for her notorious barrier antics than her undoubted racing ability, but the former 'wild child' is now at peace with the world having delivered a gorgeous colt last week at Amarina Farm.

Bred by Coolmore and sold as a yearling for $350,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Aqua D’Amore was returned to the farm shortly after the sale when it was discovered she was a windsucker.
Broken in and sent to Gai Waterhouse, Aqua D’Amore raced in the ownership of Mrs Sue Magnier and carried the world renowned Coolmore navy blue colours to victory on nine occasions collecting some $1.9 million in prizemoney.
Aqua D’Amore scored her biggest win in the Group One MRC Futurity Stakes over a mile and placed in a further five Group One races including a fine second in the Caulfield Cup to Tawqeet (USA).
A tough and very versatile performer, the daughter of Danehill (USA) first shot to fame with a memorable stakes double capturing the Group Two AJC Villiers Stakes at 1600 metres and then backing up to win the Group Three AJC Summer Cup over 2400 metres.
Aqua D'Amore producer her first foal, a colt by Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) for Coolmore last spring, and was sold privately this year to a client of Amarina Farm when in foal to champion sire Encosta de Lago with this athletic bay colt the result of the mating.
Her dam Romantic River (USA) has also been a regular visitor to Encosta de Lago in recent years leaving an unraced three year-old colt called Super de Lago, an unnamed two year-old colt and a yearling filly.
