Easy Debut Win for Demerger Half-Brother
Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 28 October 2009
The Anthony Cummings trained four year-old entire Trader made a big impression when winning easily on debut at Bendigo on Wednesday.
A half-brother to Group One SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Demerger, the son of Dehere (USA) gave his rivals no chance when bolting away over the concluding stages to win the 1100 metre maiden by four lengths.
A $600,000 purchase for Anthony Cummings from the Amarina Farm draft at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Trader
(pictured as a yearling) was bred by Wood Nook Farm and is the sixth foal of the Centaine mare Triattica, who was purchased by Wood Nook Farm for $575,000 from the Inglis conducted Vinery Dispersal in 2005.
A proven stakes producer as the dam of Group One SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Demerger and stakes-placed Rash Promise, Triattica has also been represented this season by classy three year-old Encosta de Lago colt Tribunal, who was retained by Bob and Rosemary Scarborough, owners of Wood Nook Stud.
Trader comes from the family of Group One stars Triscay, La Baraka and Defier, who is by the same sire as Trader in Dehere.
A magnificent looking individual, Trader was the second most expensive yearling sired by Coolmore based Dehere sold as a yearling in 2007.
