Third Win for $2.1 Million Redoutes
Tara Madgwick - Friday, 18 December 2009
High profile Redoute’s Choice entire Master of Design took another promising step forward when scoring a very easy win at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
A horse with undoubted talent, but more than a few issues, the Lee Freedman trained Master of Design posted his third win from just five starts when he surged clear to win the Ratings 82 event over 1200 metres by more than three lengths.
A $2.1 million purchase for Darley from the Arrowfield draft at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Master of Design was the second highest priced colt of the sale.
He is a half-brother by Redoute’s Choice to South African Group One winner Suntagonal, his dam Urge to Merge, a full sister to four-time Group One winner Tracy’s Element, the dam of current star Typhoon Tracy.
Urge to Merge has had five foals to race all winners with Master of Design being a younger full brother to brilliant sprinter Allied Force, who also showed ability scoring three brilliant wins before succumbing to soundness issues.
Urge to Merge has a yearling filly by Redoute’s Choice that has not been entered for a sale in 2010 and produced a colt by Charge Forward this spring.
