Al Maher Mare All Heart
Tara Madgwick - Monday, 2 January 2012

The winning run being enjoyed by Joe O'Neill's Prime Thoroughbreds continued at Flemington on Monday with talented staying mare Unchain My Heart posting a valuable Black Type success in the Listed VRC Bagot Handicap over 2800 metres.

The David Hayes trained daughter of Al Maher has been a model of consistency this preparation and has thrived since being extended out over the staying trips.

Tuned up with recent wins at Randwick, Canterbury and Moonee Valley, Unchain My Heart was rock hard fit for this tougher assignment and rose to the challenge.

Unchain My Heart travelled kindly for Dwayne Dunn after jumping from barrier one and settled midfield, before edging forward to be on the leaders' heels with 450 metres to run.

Dunn steered Unchain My Heart around the tiring Light Vision at the 400 metre mark before hitting the lead along the inside rail with 200 metres to travel.

"I could ride along the inside and didn't need to push the button until everything opened," Dunn said.

"The stablemate of David's (Hayes - Chartreux) was outside me in the run and when I got inside the thing of (Bryce) Stanaway's (Crafty Cruiser) I was just hoping Brian Higgins (Noble Destiny) could take me as far as he could and he did.

"Things opened up beautifully at the top of the straight."

Bred down on the Southern Highlands at Rheinwood Pastoral, Unchain My Heart was catalogued for the 2008 Magic Millions, but later withdrawn and sold privately to Prime Thoroughbreds for syndication.

Prime enjoyed much success with her older half-brother Captain Chaos, who won seven races and more than $140,000 in prizemoney, so it's no surprise they were keen to take her on as well.

Unchain My Heart has won seven races and placed six times from 25 starts earning more than $220,000 in prizemoney.

The 11th stakes-winner for Emirates Park based Al Maher (pictured), Unchain My Heart is one of four winners from Fly By Night, a metropolitan winning half-sister by Prince of Birds (USA) to classy stakes-placed HK sprinter Country Music.

Fly By Night has no yearling for the sales this year but did produce a filly by Wanted in 2011.

Rheinwood Pastoral will offer six yearlings at the 2012 Magic Millions including the full brother to dual Group I winner Albert the Fat, click here to see the pedigrees.
