Fastnet Rock Rules Premier
Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 29 February 2012

Fastnet Rock dominated the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale 12 months ago and was back doing the same this year providing five of the top six lots and leading the sires by average list with 20 youngsters averaging $181,375.

Batting off a service fee of $60,500 in 2009, the Fastnet Rock supporters were well rewarded in achieving three times service fee with his best result coming with a colt from Bellevue Lady (NZ) that made $500,000 for Musk Creek Farm when secured by James Bester Bloodstock/Demi O'Byrne on behalf of Coolmore to top the sale.

His top filly (pictured) was the half-sister to stakes-winner Corsaire from Crystal Choir (GB) that made $330,000 for Makybe when purchased by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds.

New Zealand based sires made an impact at this sale with High Chaparral (IRE) (now with Coolmore, but previously shuttling Windsor Park when these yearlings were conceived), Pentire (GB) and Pins all in the Top 10.

Pins had the best individual result of the Kiwi based sires with his colt (pictured) from Crossyourheart fetching $260,000 for Tyreel Stud when snapped up by Singapore based trainerCliff Brown.

Darley based Reset did best of the Victorian based sires achieving his top seller (pictured) with the half-sister to Group II winner Chase the Rainbow from Illusional fetching $230,000 for Swettenham Stud when secured by Malua Bloodstock/Bahen Bloodstock.
