What
do this year's stakes-winning fillies Jade Marauder, Soft Sand and Celebrity
Girl have in common?.
All were sold by Yarraman Park at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
The Mitchell family run Yarraman Park is a proven source of stakes horses with
recent results from their Easter yearlings adding to an impressive honour roll
of farm graduates going back to the likes of Snitzel, Rewaaya, Apercu and the
brilliant Amelia's Dream.
"We've had a great run of late with our two and three year-olds and while Jade
Marauder, Soft Sand and Celebrity Girl have all won stakes races this year, we
also have Bliss Street, who won several stakes races last year and has her hoof
on the til at the moment," said Harry Mitchell.
"Sharnee Rose was placed in the Thousand Guineas in the spring behind Atlantic
Jewel, so she is another good one and her turn will surely come."
Sold at Easter last year for $500,000 to Ingham Racing, Fastnet Rock filly Jade
Marauder (pictured www.stevehart.com,au) is now Golden Slipper bound after taking out the Group III ATC Sweet
Embrace Stakes last Saturday.
"I'm probably biased, but I think she's a hope in the Slipper," Mitchell said.
"She's got a big finish and in a high pressure race like that, she will be
running home hard."
Yarraman Park will present another top class Easter draft this year featuring 23
yearlings after withdrawals.
Jade Marauder's sire Fastnet Rock has three youngsters catalogued in the
premium part of the sale and all are outstanding.
"They are all very nice horses, not too big, but strong athletic types that are
going to be very popular given the way Fastnet Rock is travelling," said
Mitchell.
"The Banc de Fortune is a great walker and the filly from Miss Heath has a
beautiful big deep girth."
Lot 60 Colt Fastnet Rock x Banc de Fortune – Second foal of stakes-winning and
Group I placed Banc de Fortune, a daughter of dual Group I winner Danendri
from the family of dual Group I winner Faint Perfume.

Lot 247 Colt Fastnet Rock x Lisson Grove – First foal of stakes-winner Lisson
Grove, a half-sister to Group I winner Only a Lady.

Lot 285 Filly Fastnet Rock x Miss Heath – Half-sister to stakes-placed My Sweet
Cookie from the Denise's Joy family.

Other highlights include:
Lot 260 Filly More Than Ready (USA) x Magical Miss – Half-sister to
stakes-placed Weasley and Gioe being from dual Group I winner Magical Miss.

"More Than Ready has been having a great run with his two year-olds this season
and our filly from Magical Miss is a real star," said Mitchell.
"She's what you would hope to see from this mating, a lovely filly, not unlike
Samaready."
Lot 262 Colt Exceed and Excel x Majestic Harmony – From an unraced daughter of
Group III winner Party Time.

"He's a colt that is here on type as there is not as much on his page compared
to others, but he sells himself and is top class," Mitchell said.
Lot 290 Filly Hard Spun (USA) x Mizzle (USA) – Half-sister to this season's
stakes-winner Soft Sand and is third foal of a daughter of French Group I
winner Loving Claim.

"We sold her half-sister Soft Sand at this sale for $160,000 and she's done a
great job and this filly is also a good athletic individual by a young stallion
that has the runs on the board in the Northern Hemisphere," Mitchell said.
Hard Spun has sired 38 winners from his first crop in the Northern Hemisphere
including six stakes-winners and a further 10 stakes horses, his best offspring
the Group II winner Red Duke, whose wins came in the UK on turf.
Lot 131 Colt Bernardini (USA) x Dizelle – Half-brother to stakes-winner Dizlago
from Group I AJC Oaks winner Dizelle, a sister to Champion HK Stayer Vengeance
of Rain.

"He's a superb colt, a real classic style of horse from a great mare and in 12
months he'll be stunning," Mitchell said.
