A stunning colt and a cracking filly by champion sire Redoute's Choice make this draft from a proven stakes producing farm one not to be missed.
Well known as a source of stakes horses such as Under the Eiffel, Chance Bye, Brightexpectations, Dubleanny, Break Card and Cambiaso, Torryburn Stud is a familiar name to yearling buyers seeking a quality young racehorse.
The Cornish family owned farm will present a diverse draft of 12 youngsters at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale headed by five that will be offered during Session I of the sale.
Lot 264 Colt Redoute's Choice x Mambo Chatte (USA) – Third foal of unraced Kingmambo mare Mambo Chatte (USA), a half-sister to Group II winner Horse Greeley and grand-daughter of dual Group I winner Carita Tostada.
Bred on a successful cross, with four winners from four runners bred this way including dual Group I winner Gallica, UK based stakes-winner Elzaam and Group III placed Stalingrad.
"There is a lot to like about this colt as he has good bone, reign, leg, and has a real presence about him," said Torryburn Stud Manager, Reggie Mackellar.
"He is a colt that has always held his own in the paddock and continues to grow evenly.
"John Cornish brought the mare in foal to Awesome Again and we sold the her first yearling up at the Magic Millions for $70 k. This colt is her second foal here in Australia and she is definitely stamping her progeny with sound qualities."
Lot 339 Filly Redoute's Choice x Princess Pelona (USA) – Third foal of US stakes-winner Princess Pelona, a daughter of leading sire El Prado.
"This filly has some attitude and walks with a purpose," said Mackellar.
"She did lack some size as a weanling, but she has really jumped out of the water in her Easter preparation and she will only develop more in the next 6 months, so will be an impressive filly in time.
"She is the third foal of Princess Pelona and we are really seeing her throw a lot of quality into her stock. The mare has a Lohnro weanling and she is in foal to Starcraft."
Lot 281 Filly Bernardini (USA) x Miss Brightman – Half-sister to Group II STC Pago Pago Stakes winner Brightexpectations.
"This filly has a real elegance about her and she has continued to impress me during her preparation," said Mackellar.
"She has plenty of scope and good leg under her and has a very neat well balanced walk, but you can see just by looking at her that she is growing and will continue to furnish and develop into a divine filly.
"Miss Brightman has an outstanding Shamardal weanling colt and we have the mare in foal to Starcraft."
Lot 110 Colt Bernardini (USA) x Coureuse – Half-brother to eight winners led by top class HK stakes-winner Sichuan Success and stakes-placed Tom Coureuse, Yellow Diamond and Pirouettes.
"This colt is out of a consistent running family and I believe he will be no different," said Mackellar.
"He has done extremely well in this preparation and is just starting to let down in all the right places.
"He has an effortless walk and is very sensitive, so that to me is a sign of an intelligent horse that wants to learn and will excel."
Lot 137 Colt Stratum x Dubai Melody (USA) – Second foal of a three-quarter sister to US Group II winner Magellan and is bred on similar Redoute's Choice x Woodman cross to Golden Slipper winner Miss Finland.
"When you first look at this colt, you just think OMG! What a big flashy colt," said Mackellar.
"He has always been of good size, although did lack a little substance initially due to his continual growth spurts, but he has now transformed into a well balanced colt that is very well co-ordinated considering his size.
"The colt has a super demeanour and has been a pleasure to prepare.
