The Group III SAJC Auraria Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday was won by Darley homebred Crucial, who overcame the outside barrier to score a powerful win in the 1800 metre contest.
Having been settled at the rear by Vlad Duric, Crucial came widest of all in the straight and let down with a sizzling finish to charge home over the top of her rival fillies and win by three parts of a length.
The Auraria is the third win from 11 starts for the Anthony Freedman-trained Crucial, who becomes the fourth stakes-winner for young sire, Nadeem(pictured).
Crucial is the first foal of her dam Dawn Attack (Ire), a half-sister by Fantastic Light mare to multiple Group I winner and sire Desert King.
Dawn Attack has a yearling colt by Commands, a weanling colt by Medaglia d'Oro and was covered last season by Domesday.
