Two year-old Encosta de Lago filly Aneefa opened her winning account in South Africa on Saturday when defeating older rivals to win at Turffontein.
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum prepared by Mike de Kock, Aneefa took the 1800 metre maiden at her third start by two and a quarter lengths.
Aneefa is a full sister to former top juvenile Von Costa de Hero, who won the Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes and finished second to Sebring in the Golden Slipper.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Aneefa is the fourth winner from Piavonic, who was best known for beating Sunline in the Group I MVRC Manikato Stakes.
Piavonic has a yearling colt by Encosta de Lago (pictured) and is due to foal to Fastnet Rock this spring.
